Chelsea made a lot of mistakes against Manchester City in their 6-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium. Allowing the early opener was one of them.
Following the huge embarrassment by the hands of City, Maurizio Sarri came out defending his style of football. The Italian boss also claimed that his players failed to fulfill his intentions on the pitch.
The last night’s defeat at the Etihad Stadium was The Blues’ third in a row in away Premier League match. Falling 4-0 behind in the first 25 minutes left Chelsea’s boss unable to utter any explanation.
The Blues were on a 12 games unbeaten run from the start of the season, however, things began to go north in the fall of 2018. Since late November, Chelsea have lost six games and 6-0 debacle by the hands of City is one hard to get over.
Speaking to the reporters after the match, Sarri responded,
At the beginning [of the season] it worked. So now we need only to understand the reasons why at the moment it isn’t working.
Something is changing. I am not able to see the reason but we have to work for this. My target is to play my football, not to change [to] another football because at the moment we are playing another football.
Following the defeat, the Blues float in the sixth place in the table, single point off the fourth-placed Manchester United.
